My regular gang

This is the gang that plays regularly with me at Barrington Courts (Barrington and Sunset, close to the 405 Freeway). This is just a test photo of an Indian wedding in Calgary. Hopefully I will have real pictures next week!

Tennis in Los Angeles

I've been playing tennis here for the last 10 years, not really improving much for the last 5. So, at age 53, I got myself a coach and joined a league. This is the story of my ongoing struggles with tennis, and my partner's ongoing struggles with me. My wife Anne is very supportive of my efforts, and she is the one who encouraged me to expand my love of tennis.
My coach, who tells me all my shots are wrong (surprise), is Robert Liska, a USPTA instructor, and a great guy. His home page is here. If anyone out there needs to learn to play REAL tennis, Bob is your man. Seriously, he does not teach you baby shots, he teaches you how to hit winning shots from the get-go. And, he is a real nice guy too!
The tennis league I joined is the Tennis Los Angeles league. It is cheap, it is fun, and since you play with partners all over town, it is a fun way to see Los Angeles from a tennis point of view. For example, I spent over an hour waiting for my partner in Hollywood, but was totally entertained by these three young guys who hit the ball so well and so cleanly, they could be in the pros! Hopefully I'll get their pictures and post them here sometime.
